Volunteering – Mentor
Ignite Life UK is a charity whose aim is to ensure that every child and young person to have access to the help and support they need to overcome adversity and achieve their full potential
Job description
Share your passion, Ignite a spark!
· Full training provided.
· Excellent opportunity to gain experience working with children, young people and their families.
We are particularly looking for volunteers to help us provide early intervention with the families who are referred to us, who have younger children (primary age). This could involve sharing one of your passions, providing respite for families, providing parenting support, being a listening ear to a parent, running a club… the list is endless and we always welcome new ideas.
We are looking for volunteers who:
· Have enthusiasm and a passion for supporting children and their families to stay connected and get through challenging times.
· Appreciate that when children exhibit challenging behaviour they are communicating a need and are simply asking for help.
· Can be creative and dynamic in supporting the needs of children and families……which could involve a bit of glue, glitter and maybe slime!
· Are patient, non-judgmental and are optimistic in the difference that can be made, mixed with a sense of humour
· Have experience of younger children either personally or professionally.
As a charity, we use the ‘Thrive Approach’ as a basis for the interventions and support we provide. We would therefore also keenly welcome anyone who has had Thrive training or is aware of the approach who is keen to support the work we do.
