What is the Ideas Pool?

Ideas Pool is a new initiative being run here through BristVol. It is a Trello board where every voice can be heard, regardless of job, role, gender, race, and status. If you contribute an idea, you can take an idea. You only need to pay for the idea if you use it to make money, but not if you make money for non-for-profit.

As you can see in the picture, there is a to-do list from previously created ideas and pending ideas. These cards can be created by anyone signed up to the ideas pool, to put down a new idea, while also exploring the previous ideas.

New ideas are then explored by everyone on the Ideas Pool, adding further ideas and advice. Previous ideas may help people solidify their new ideas. An example of this was creating the ELH Citizens University. This started as an idea on the Ideas Pool and people continued to add to the idea. The conversation went as follows:

Citizen 5 - "I don't understand the Planning Process, but it's so important to the area's future, and next year I'd like to become a Councillor."

Citizen 6 - "Our Neighbourhood Planning Group can tell you about local Planning Applications."

Citizen 8/9/10 - "My University/Organisation/Campaign Group can help to explain some of the issues."

This was the beginning of an idea, taking shape and form with help from various people. It couldn’t have been created without the Ideas Pool!

What are the benefits?

1) Everyone’s voice is heard.

2) Ideas can be shared online, so that in the time of Covid19 improvements are made but safely.

3) You can look through the old ideas to inspire the new ones.

4) Your new idea isn’t in an echo chamber. People can challenge your new ideas and make sure you’re thinking it through from every angle.

5) You aren’t alone with your idea. Other people can help to share, shape, and form your idea so that it can become the best that it can be.

How do I sign up?

You can currently sign up by going straight through BristVol contact form.

We will receive notification and send to you the terms and conditions of Ideas Pool, asked to sign an agreement, and then be granted access.
